Kôr Community Land Trust receives $10,000 grant from WaFd Foundation

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – Kôr Community Land Trust this week received a $10,000 grant from the Washington Federal Foundation of WaFd Bank to support sustainably affordable and environmentally friendly homeownership opportunities for those who contribute to the fabric of Central Oregon’s economy and community.

Kôr – which envisions sustainable and equitable communities where everyone can afford to live where they work and play – is currently expanding its affordable housing pipeline to ensure it can build more homes, at a faster pace, to better meet housing needs in central Oregon. The WaFd Bank Foundation grant will help fund expanded community engagement to reach Black, Indigenous, and households of color in family housing need earning less than 80% of the region’s median income as part of efforts to organization to increase equitable access to home buying opportunities.

“Kôr serves workers and families in central Oregon who qualify for a mortgage, but cannot afford to buy a home in the rising market while their own wages are stagnating,” Jackie said. Keogh, executive director of Kôr Community Land Trust. “We are able to bridge this gap by building affordable housing with the support of partners such as WaFd Bank.”

The Washington Federal Foundation focuses on programs and causes that help provide affordable housing for low- and middle-income people, providing support to social agencies and nonprofit organizations that serve the needs of communities where WaFd Bank operates. The Foundation has awarded more than $230,000 to Bend-area nonprofits, including an additional $7,000 in previous grants to Kôr Community Land Trust. This grant is one of 18 donations made to various nonprofit organizations this month.
